Jesse Lingard recently offered himself to Barcelona after a six-month absence from football.
The question is can the England international really join Barca this January?
According to Mundo Deportivo Lingard is the easiest player Barca can sign at the moment. The attacking midfielder will arrive as a free agent on a low-paid unobtrusive FFP.
However Lingard has not played at any level since May 2023 and that is a serious concern. The 31 year-old had unsuccessful trials at West Ham and Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia last summer.
The former England international later trained with West Ham to maintain his form. Two weeks ago he posted a picture on his Instagram showing that he was working hard on his fitness in Dubai.
Barca have been doing some smart work to sign a free agent recently. Players like Christensen Inigo Martinez Gundogan Kessie and Garcia all came for free.
However Barca need those players. That is not the case with Lingard. He is an attacker and not the midfielder and defender Xavi who is looking for such a player.
