Real Madrid hero Karim Benzema is enduring the worst nightmare of his career at Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia. And it will turn from bad to worse according to Diario AS.
What happened? Benzema went to AWOL in Al Ittihad and missed training on Thursday and Friday for no apparent reason.
According to Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya Benzema will no longer be in Saudi Arabia and will definitely miss Ittihad next game this weekend.
Saudi Arabia have no explanation for Benzema sudden disappearance and their new manager Marcelo Gallardo has refused to comment.
In addition fans believe that Benzema no longer wants to play in Saudi Arabia just six months after signing a 200 200 million a year deal. The contract expires in the summer of 2026.
Earlier this week Benzema surprised everyone by deleting his Instagram account which has millions of followers. Reports say the striker has been abused by his fans for his lack of professionalism.
The 36 year old has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo since his massive transfer to Saudi Arabia in July. But he remembers the 38 year old football hero who scored 53 goals in 2023 alone.
Benzema has scored 12 goals and five assists in 20 of his 20 games this season.
