Wayne Rooney has spilled the beans on his best and not-so-best teammates from his long career. He shared the field with some true greats like Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand, and many more.
Speaking on the Seven: Rob Burrow podcast, Rooney revealed: My best team-mate, I'd say Darren Fletcher.
There were a few - John O'Shea, Wes Brown, Michael Carrick - we were all really close. But Fletch was probably the one We sat next to each other in the dressing room and shared really good moments on and off the pitch together.
My worst team-mate - there are a lot more than you'd probably think! On the pitch, the toughest one was Nani. He was frustrating to play with.
Darren Fletcher's journey with Manchester United began when he was just 11 years old. He went on to make more than 300 appearances for the club, playing under managers like Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, and Louis van Gaal.
Similar to Wayne Rooney, Fletcher earned five Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy with United. However, he missed out on playing in all three of United's European finals during his time there.
After playing for West Brom and Stoke, Fletcher retired in 2019. Now, he's back at Old Trafford, working as the club's technical director.
Meanwhile, Nani, the talented Portuguese winger, spent eight years with Manchester United. He was famous for his skills and fancy footwork. After leaving United around the same time as Fletcher, Nani continued his football journey in Turkey, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and the United States.
