Sheikh Jassim wins race to buy Man United, timeline and announcement date revealed

Sheikh Jassim has finally won the race to purchase Manchester United, according to Neil Custis of The Sun.

The Qatari royal is expected to complete his £6 billion takeover of the club by mid-October, well into the new season.

As for the official announcement of the long-awaited deal, it could come 'as early as next month' as final details are ironed out.

It will be a 100 per cent sale with the Glazers no longer holding any Man United shares, something that Sir Jim Ratcliffe was not offering.
