Barcelona to face corruption charges after allegedly paying former referee

According to Spanish media El Pais, public prosecutors will sue Barcelona and their former president Josep Maria Bartomeu for allegedly paying former referee Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira.

Barcelona paid Negreira áŸ„áž“ 1.2 million between the two years between 2016 and 2018 while he was vice-chairman of the Spanish Football Arbitration Commission. El Mundo also reported that payments from Barcelona to Negreira's company date back to 2001, totaling 6.6 million.

La Liga president Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, could not take any action against Barcelona as the statute of limitations had passed.
