Speaking to O Jogo, Cancelo revealed that Pep Guardiola was the main reason behind his departure from Manchester City to Bayern Munich. He insisted the manager's new strategy suited the other players and was good to leave. "I think players are always a bit selfish. Every player wants to feel like they want to play, and to say otherwise is a lie," he said. "Competitors like me who want to win trophies just want to play."
He continued: "It's like Pep said I have to play to be happy. It is not a question of evaluating my teammates because others are on the bench to play. But I think I deserve to play and he thinks not.
