Xabi Alonso out of shortlist to succeed Jurgen Klopp

Xabi Alonso is unlikely to feature on Liverpool shortlist to replace Jurgen Klopp as manager this summer.

The story was leaked by Paul Joyce of The Times and retold by other sources such as The Telegraph.

The reason behind Liverpool decision is the expectation that Alonso will decide to stay at Bayer Leverkusen for another season to continue the impressive process. They are currently top of the Bundesliga with 10 points and will compete in the Champions League next season.

Liverpool are already looking at other options despite a strong interest in Alonso.

Sporting Lisbon Ruben Amorim and Brighton Roberto De Zerbi are now the remaining outstanding candidates according to The Telegraph.
